Notepad in hand, I’ve been recording the pulse of the arts in Ann Arbor and
southeastern Michigan for almost 40 years: for the Ann Arbor News, annarbor.com
and the Ann Arbor News resurgent; for the Detroit News; and in broadcasts, back in
the day, for WUOM. It’s 2014: times change, newspapers change; it’s time to blog in
addition to writing about dance and music for the Ann Arbor News.
I hope you’ll visit The Downbeat for coverage of dance and classical music events
– mostly in Ann Arbor, but not strictly so. I’m a frequent New York visitor and a
busy traveler. I’m itching to write about some of the concerts I attend in the Big
Apple and elsewhere, and eager to expand beyond the traditional newspaper mix of
preview-review. I’m also passionate about making music myself, so you’re likely to
find an occasional musing generated from the time I spend at the piano keyboard.
Thanks for reading and coming along on my new adventure.
Sincerely, Susan
